Four Legged Friends baby card

One of the big draws for me at Walmart on Black Friday were the new Cricut Lite cartridges!  I went to a Walmart at about 2:45am and got 3 of the new Lites: Four Legged Friends, Twinkle Toes, and Zoo Day.  I was pretty excited!

I had a baby shower at work today and the woman is having a boy.  I thought this cute little kitty was perfect!  I love creating things for boys because I only have girls!  :)

He is cut at 4".  I used my Imagine to print the colors and cut the shapes of the cat.

A close up:

The top background paper is from a K&Co. stack.  The blue paper is printed on the Imagine to match the blue of the cat and then I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the hearts.  The stamp is a December set from Big Lots (I can't think of the company).

I think this cart is sooo cute!

Shall We Dance Layout

This is my second project with Shall We Dance.  I am still getting used to this new Cricut Circle cart but I want to use it as much as I can!

This layout is from one of my daughter's dance competitions last year.  Here is the full layout:

The right side:

The left side:

All of the dancers are cut using the silhouette feature.  They range in size from 3" to 5".  Some detail of the dancers:

The words are from the Phrase feature and are cut at 3.25.  I used my Gypsy to make sure they lined up but you wouldn't have to do that if you don't have a Gypsy.

Shall We Dance Card

My daughter is into cheer and dance.  She recently celebrated her eighth birthday and this is card I made for her, using the new Shall We Dance Cricut cartridge, exclusive to the Cricut Circle.  Many people were disappointed with this cartridge as they do not have any family members involved in dance but I was super excited when it was announced!  This is my first project with it.

I used a Peechy Keen stamp for her face instead of the face the cart offers.  I used stickles to re-create what her current year's dance costume looks like.  It's pretty cool that it's so close!

For the inside, I used the Medallion key on the last key of the overlay, the bunch of roses.  I cut two of the same size, one in silver and one in white, then printed my sentiment on the white piece with my printer.

I added a pink line of stickles around the edge to pretty it up.

Thanks for looking!

Christmas with a Twist Blog Hop!

Blogger Templates

Hello and welcome!  Hopefully you arrived from Christine's blog, http://scrappin-nanapuddin.blogspot.com/.

As you've probably heard by now, the "twist" is to not use traditional Christmas symbols like Santa or snowmen for today's hop.  So I made a two page 12x12 scrapbook layout of our family opening presents last year!   To add some fun, I also used the new Smiley Cards cartridge that was exclusive to the latest Gypsy update.

The first task was to arrange the presents on my Gypsy so that I could get them cut quickly.  Here is a picture of my Gypsy screen.  I used a 12x24 mat so I could cut everything at once.  Note - I only cut the shadow, not the base image, as that would really just have been wasting a layer of paper for this project.

Next, I selected my papers and got them stuck onto the mat in all the correct places.  All the papers were from Kaisercraft's two newest Christmas collections, Be Merry and Tis the Season.

Here's a shot of the cuts after they were completed.
I cut the presents at the following sizes:
  • Red - 4"
  • Brown - 3.5"
  • Green stripe - 3.5"
  • Candy cane - 3.0"
  • Reindeer - 3"
I used a variety of stickles, ink, googly eyes, and glossy accents to make my presents look unique and shiny.

Sadly, I only had one sheet of the Kaisercraft background paper that I wanted to use.  Luckily, I had enough photos in my layout to cover the other half of the 12x12 area.  So I cut my green patterned paper into pieces that would fit my layout:

I used two sheets of a light pattern that I would never use on anything (you know, pieces from that stack you have that you cannot for the life of you figure out why you bought it...) as my base paper to glue everything on to.

Next, I assembled everything using my ATG gun and Zip Dry two-way glue pens as my adhesives.  A closer view of the presents assembled:

For my journaling on this layout, I used these two wishlists that were in the 6x6 pack of Kaisercraft's Be Merry collection.  A closer view of those:

The final layout again:

I hope you have liked my layout and if you are still with me this far, you deserve a chance at my blog candy!  :)  I am giving away the gingerbread cart!

To be entered for a chance to win all you have to do is leave a comment with what gift you are most looking forward to giving this year and to whom.  Also be sure to leave your email address or Cricut MB name in the comment so I can contact you if you win. Of course, if you would like to become a follower of my blog, I would appreciate it!  I will announce the winner on Monday!

Pool Fun

Here is the second 12x12 2-page layout I completed at the Saturday crop I went to!  This one features my girls and I at a summer college graduation party.  While the layout doesn't say much about the graduation, the family had their pool open and it was a gorgeous summer day!  We had a fabulous time!

The full layout:
The darker blue strip at the bottom is sparkly and really pulls out the darker blues in the pictures.  It looks great in person!

Here is the left side.  The lettering was done with Cuttin' Up and the shadow behind.

Detail of one of the flowers.  This was done with Walk in My Garden.  The two yellow things that come out of the words at the top are left over leaves from when I cut out the yellow center of my flower.  That worked out great!

Right side:

As always, thanks for visiting me and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Strawberry Fields Forever

Hi there!  A few weeks ago, I was invited by a fellow Cricut Circle friend, TBug, to come to her town and scrap.  It was a wonderful day!  (She makes excellent Mexican Chicken by the way!!!)  I brought the Imagine for everyone to see and use if they wanted.

This is one of the layouts I accomplished while I was there.  It's a little busy for my usual style but in the end, I'm okay with how it turned out.

The full layout:

A different view:
The lettering is done with Simply Sweet, block feature in the same brown paper as the matting of my photos.  Then I also cut the same boxes with the Blocked Out feature in white so the lettering shows.

The tag here is printed and cut with the Imagine More cart.  I changed the background of the clipboard to be red checks to match my layout instead of the original blue.

The strawberry bunch here is the strawberry from the journal tag pictured above, but separated out from all the rest.  I then print it in multiple sizes and gathered them together.  You can see the little white edges - my calibration on the Imagine was a little off at that point but I didn't want to reprint them as they were good enough for me.  :)

I'd love your comments!
