Birthday Invite - Complete

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments, both here and on the Cricut Circle message board!  You really helped me decide what I wanted to do.  Below is the finished product:

I ended up going with some dots instead of the inking.  I agreed with one comment that the inking made it seem too old.   The dots keep it young and appropriate to a two year old.  Here is the inside (with the details blurred out):

Again, thank you everyone for your input!!

Birthday Invite - In Progress

This is what I am thinking for my daughter's 2nd birthday party.  She loves Mickey Mouse.  What do you think?

Front:
This fits in a 5x5 envelope.

Inside:
The words would be printed on this white page.  I tried inking for the first time ever because I was just playing around...

Comment and let me know what you think!  My goal is to get these all done and in the mail by Friday night!

Birthday cards

Here are two birthday cards I made at the end of last week.  I had to get them out quickly!

The first is for one of my best friends.  She's such a good friend that she ran to the JoAnn's in her town to get me Cricut cartridges when they went on clearance for $9.97 each!  She later sent me a text that said she thought she deserved a Cookie Monster card out of the deal.  I agree, don't you?!   She is an awesome friend!  Cookie Monster is cut from Sesame Street Friends at 3.5 inches.

The second is for my brother so I wanted something that wasn't too girly.  The hippo is cut from Create a Critter at 3.5 inches.  This stamp is from My Pink Stamper.

Thanks for visiting me!  I would love to hear your comments!  Don't be shy!

Going Places Labor Day Challenge

This is my entry for the Cricut Circle Labor Day Challenge.  We ended up having a lazy weekend at home so it's great to scrap these "everyday" pictures.  It sure felt weird scrapping something that just happened though!  I'm used to being a year behind!

Here's a close up of the title.  I had a lot of fun mixing two fonts to make it more eclectic looking.  I mixed Storybook and Cuttin' Up.  I welded them on the Gypsy and then welded a box behind it.  Then I cut twice, once with the box and once without.  That's how there are holes in my words.  Turned out pretty great!  :)

Baseball game layouts

Tonight I made some progress!  Here are two baseball game layouts I made.  This means I am done scrapping the first half of 2009!  Yahoo!  :)

The first layout:
The only Cricut on this page - would you believe on the baseball cart there is no word "game"?!  So I welded Cursive 101 to make due:

The second layout - left side:

This is the detail of the letters from Word Builder.  I used the hide contour feature on my Gypsy to hide the balloon and just used the letters from inside.

Right side - although it isn't the same event, it relates so I used papers that match and the same font:

And the two together will go in my book like this:

Word Builders Cricut cart - used Hide Contour to get ride of the balloon shape

Hallway Banner

I am very excited!  At one of the schools I teach in, every teacher has a banner hanging in the hallway outside of their classroom.  This is a great way to decorate our halls, as well as help direct people to the correct places.  This will be my third year in this building and the sign I inherited was definitely in need of replacing.  So... it only took me two years but I finally sat down and made my new banner!

A view of my banner looking down the hallway:
My mom was in town and we happened to be going to JoAnn's and Michael's so... :)  I picked up the fabric I needed from JoAnn's in the clearance section.  I also got some Wonder Under to use for cutting my letters.  I was nervous to work with the fabric but my mom has made all kinds of things with a sewing machine so I knew I was in good hands.  I don't own a sewing machine of my own but my oldest daughter has a kid's sewing machine.  Well, after trying to work with that for awhile, including going to the neighbor's and borrowing some thread, my mom informed me that no matter what I might think, I do NOT own a sewing machine!!!  So we used Elmer's Craft Bond Adhesive Spray to glue all the border pieces of the fabric on.

Then I followed the directions on the Wonder Under and cut my letters on the E, using Pooh Font.  I had cut test letters out of scrap paper and placed them on my banner first so I could figure out exactly what size I wanted things to be before I cut and wasted fabric.  I had a hard time finding Wonder Under.  Guess why???  Well, I thought I was looking for some kind of spray adhesive!  Turns out I should have been looking for interfacing.  Which I had no idea what that was either but it's by the fabric and looks like white paper but then you iron it on to your fabric.  Big learning moment in the store!  :) :)  Thankfully the lady at the JoAnn fabric counter was really nice!

I am so super excited about how this turned out!  I think it looks wonderful and have gotten some great compliments on it at school.  Also, a HUGE thanks to my mom, as I don't think it would have worked out with her support and help!!!
